You are encouraged to not only read the article but to click on the links to see what Omers have to say and watch an actual solutions for each of the 2009 long term problems. Iowa Talented and Gifted (I-TAG) Conference--
We were There
It was a treat to be able to participate in this years Iowa Talented and Gifted Conference at the Des Moines Airport Holiday Inn. It was especially wonderful to get to meet all the people who stopped by our booth and attended the workshop that Phaedra and Edward put on.
Those who attended the Workshop not only learned about the Odyssey of the Mind program and how it fits with the Iowa Core Curriculum, Century 21 Skills and STEM, but also had the opportunity to try their hand at a "hands on" Spontaneous problem.
To get that membership application that allows many Iowa schools to experience Odyssey of the Mind for up to 15 teams for only $135.00, click HERE and click on the Register Today tab.
Odyssey of the Mind Receives Grant
On Saturday September 24, 2011, Iowa Odyssey of the Mind was presented a $1515.00 grant from the Iowa American Legion Foundation. A partner for many years the Iowa American Legion Foundation has supported the aims and goals of Odyssey Mind by encouraging team building and creative thinking. Past Commander Louis Kirk presented the check to Odyssey of the Mind representatives from Southeast Polk Schools.

Odyssey of the Mind Supports School's Goals
Odyssey of the Mind has always been designed to supplement the skills taught in the formal academic setting. Using skills like math, engineering, science, reading and comprehension, the arts, music, research and communication, the Odyssey program provides the portal for students of all ages to expand and use their skills through creative team building activities.
In accomplishing these aims, the Odyssey of the Mind programs compliments and helps schools meet the National Standards for Education, 21st Century Skills, Iowa Core Curriculum and STEM education goals. These educational ideals are met through a combination of fun, research, and communications by team members solving real world complex problems on levels that meets and challenges their skill sets.
