Coach's Training

On October 22, 27, and 31 and on November 14 there will be 4 identical training sessions directed at new coaches and parents as well as experienced coaches and parents who would like to refresh themselves on "the basics" of Odyssey of the Mind and familiarize themselves with any changes specifically for this years program.  

The 2 to 2 1/2 hour sessions will cover forming a team, steps in guiding the team without providing outside assistance, spontaneous trainings, what is going to be happening throughout the program year, recruiting an official for State Tournament to represent your team and other helpful information.  

Each participant will receive a CD with this year's problems, the 2009-2010 Program Guide (rule book), spontaneous problems and various coach's aids.  

Each Coach's training session will be held at Iowa Religious Media Services, 3116 104th Street, Urbandale, Iowa.  This location is easy to find.  It is between Hickman and Douglas on 104th Street.  This is about 1 mile east of Interstate 35/80.  The training sessions on October 22 and 27 will start at 6:00 pm and will conclude between 8:00 and 8:30 pm  The training on October 31 and November 14 will begin at 9:00 am and will conclude between 11:00 and 11:30 AM

While Coach's training is not required it is STRONGLY RECOMENDED for new coaches and parents wanting to find out more about the program.  The cost of these training session are underwritten by an annonomous supporter of the Odyssey of teh Mind program and thus is at no cost to the participants.
