Important Dates
Workshop Saturday Date TBD
During January or February Iowa Odyssey of the Mind will host a workshop to help teams sharpen their skills and prepare for competition. This event will be useful to both classic and virtual teams. While this workshop is not a required event, many teams have found it helpful. The morning will focus on one or more skills to help teams develop and gain experience that will assist them on their Odyssey Journey. In the afternoon teams will participate in round robin Spontaneous Workshops designed to help them prepare for the Spontaneous Problem solving part of the program. Each team will have an opportunity to practice verbal, hands on and combination problems.
First Day to Register for the State Tournament Monday January 20, 2022
January 20, 2022 will be the first date a team can register to participate in the State Finals competition. The application will be on-line and information about registering will be sent to team coaches and membership coordinators after the first of the year.
Last Day to Register for the State Tournament Friday, March 4, 2022
Because of scheduling requirements Friday March 4 will be the final day a team can register for state finals without a $25.00 late registration penalty. No registrations will be accepted after March 15, 2021. The competition schedule for State Finals will be sent to coaches on or before March 21 and will be published on or before March 27
STATE FINALS Saturday, April 2, 2022
State Finals will again be held on the campus of Iowa State University. Each team will be required to provide a minimum of one official who will judge one or more of the long term problems or the spontaneous competition.
World Finals Wednesday, May 25 -- Saturday, May 28, 2022
World Finals 2021 will be held on the campus of Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. Teams finishing first or second in their problem in the category and teams winning a Ranatra Fusca award will qualify to represent Iowa at World Finals.
800+ teams from most States and up to15-20 foreign countries will compete on the World State at Iowa State.
